Resource type: Presentation
Author: Yaniv Aviram, Networking sales engineer

Smart cities are all about enabling new services to better service cities’ population. Its about making cities safer, offering new services, enabling consumers to use them, drive new network  revenues or in some cases focused only on providing a better experience to visitors and tourists.

Cities have to move to a different architectural model in order to support next-generation “Smart-X” services. The legacy IP client-server model has served us well, but over the past 25 years, have increased in complexity and made reliability a huge challenge due to complex protocols required to address all  these business needs.

This presentation, given at the Smart city conference 2015, describes current network architectures inefficiencies and discussing the principles of next generation networks need for the implementation of Smart city and IOT infrastructure. The presentation describes Avaya’s SDN-Fx as such solution.
